red lipstick

Hello lovely people!

I’ve decided to write an entire post about red lipstick.  Seems silly but I think red lipstick is my absolute favourite! Personally, I love a matte texture more than anything.  It somehow reminds me of old Hollywood and to me, it feels super glamorous and elegant.  My latest go-tos are Ruby Woo by MAC Cosmetics, also MAC Red and sometimes just Cherry lip liner.

Red lipstick is super high maintenance.  Depending on the shape of your lips, how you speak or eat, sometimes this annoying line of red will end up on your chin! Yes, it happens.  Some tricks to make sure the lipstick stays on longer is to put a bit of foundation on your lips, then colour in your lips with a lip liner then apply the lipstick.  Take a tissue to dab off the excess.  This essentially produces a lip stain and then you can apply another layer of lipstick.  Be aware though that if you eat anything oily (ie. salad dressing), it will instantly take off your lipstick.  Sometimes the inner part of the lip only needs retouching so it looks like only half your lip has lipstick on it.

If I’ve discouraged you from wearing red lipstick, it’s not as bad as it seems! I’m just giving fair warning that as much as I love red lipstick, it definitely needs constant touch ups.  So definitely have the lipstick and liner with you in your purse with a mirror and if possible, have a friend be on the watch out so that you don’t end up in a serious conversation with someone and have a red line on your nose! Some foundation powder is always helpful to cover up these accidental red lines too!

With all this in mind- go rock your favourite red!

xoxo
